We received this beautiful Music Man Sting-Ray 1 directly from Ryan "Fluff" Bruce's collection! This stunning guitar was featured on his YouTube channel. The video discussed Fluff's acquisition of the guitar and the restorative efforts that were done to the neck, specifically the frets and the nitro finish. The frets were all replaced; however, due to the original application of the nitro, the refret caused damage to the neck finish. Fluff decided to get the neck professionally refinished and relic’d to follow the original relic patterns of the guitar. The work is seamless it’s impossible to know that it was refinished without watching the video. Conditionally speaking, beyond the rework done to the neck, the guitar remains in great playing shape with nicks and dings scattered across the body, as well as some nitro cracking, pick scratches, and buckle rash. None of these cosmetic flaws diminish its overall playing quality and, in our opinion, make the guitar look even more badass.
The first-year Music Man Sting-Ray 1 is a spectacular player’s grade vintage guitar model that takes the creations Leo Fender designed at Fender and evolves the control layout, electronics, pickups, and body profile. This guitar plays great and sounds amazing. It’s a dream vintage instrument that doesn’t have an extreme price tag and has been very concisely and publicly documented, making this truly one of a kind.
