Fresh LSL Guitars
On The Floor
Seven hand-built LSL Instruments just landed at the Olympic Peninsula's premier LSL dealer — including rare Chris Fleming collaboration pieces.
We just stocked up on LSL Instruments in a big way. Seven guitars — spanning the Era Series and the exclusive Chris Fleming collaboration line — are now on the floor at Quimper Sound, and we've been putting them through their paces on camera so you can hear every one of them before you make the drive out to Port Townsend.
These aren't the kind of guitars you find everywhere. LSL builds each instrument by hand in Santa Clarita, California, using hand-selected tonewoods, hand-wound Revival Pickups, and hardware they largely make themselves. The result is something that plays and sounds completely unlike anything coming off a production line — and once you've spent ten minutes with one, you'll understand why players keep coming back.
About LSL Instruments
LSL Instruments was founded in 2008 by husband-and-wife team Lance and Lisa Lerman, starting from a single stubbornly held goal: build the vintage-style T-Bone that didn't exist on the market. Lance had spent decades in the guitar and woodworking world — repairing instruments, running large-scale manufacturing operations, playing in loud bars — and when he finally sat down to build what he'd always wanted, the guitar world took notice fast.
Today, LSL hand-builds bolt-neck electrics and basses using lightly aged finishes, reclaimed and old-growth timbers, and their own hand-wound pickups. Almost everything on an LSL is made in-house. The necks are hand-shaped. The pickguards, bridges, saddles, truss rods — LSL makes them. Artists including Carl Verheyen, Ray Parker Jr., Kiko Loureiro, and the late Walter Becker of Steely Dan have all built relationships with the brand.
Most recently, LSL partnered with former Fender Custom Shop Master Builder Chris Fleming for a series of limited collaboration builds that combine Fleming's decades of FCS luthiery with LSL's hand-built California DNA. Several of those are in this batch — and they are exceptional.
What's In Stock Right Now
We've filmed all of these on our YouTube channel — except the Silverlake, which is getting its video soon. Links below take you straight to each guitar's product page and video.
The model that started it all, in a finish that makes the grain the star. Single-single pickup config, classic T-style snap and clarity. Swamp ash body with that transparent butterscotch showing off every ring of the wood underneath. This is the guitar Lance Lerman set out to build in 2008 — and it still doesn't have a peer.
A collaboration between LSL founder Lance Lerman and former Fender Custom Shop Master Builder Chris Fleming. Built with Fleming's hands involved start to finish, this 50's-spec T Bone channels the blackguard era in butterscotch — the finish Fleming grew up around in Southern California. Decades of combined luthiery expertise in every detail.
A limited-run Fleming collaboration in one of the most iconic colors in electric guitar history. The Candy Apple Red — dubbed Goji — has a lightly aged finish that gives it weight and authenticity a brand-new guitar can't fake. 60's spec neck, Fleming-style appointments throughout. These limited runs don't come back once they're gone.
LSL's S-style flagship in a Faded 3-Tone Sunburst that looks like it's been played for thirty years. Three hand-wound Revival single coils, a neck that is genuinely hard to put down, and that classic staggered pickup voice — glassy, dynamic, and full of bloom. The sunburst fade on this one is particularly beautiful in person.
The Diesel spec means more firepower — an HSS pickup layout with a bridge humbucker that can go from clean Americana to full-throttle rock without complaint. Black Satin finish gives this one a stripped-down, serious look that matches the tone. If you want a Saticoy that handles the heavier end of things, this is the one.
Chris Fleming's take on the Saticoy: 60's spec, HSS layout, and a Fiesta Red (Marsala) finish that's as classic as it gets. Fleming's background in the Fender Custom Shop is all over this guitar — in the neck feel, the aging, the way it just works the moment you plug it in. One of the most complete guitars in this batch.
LSL's offset-style guitar, HH pickup config, in a Vintage Cream finish that suits the Silverlake's slightly retro character perfectly. Two humbuckers give this one a warmer, fuller voice than the single-coil models — great for players who want that LSL craftsmanship and feel in a guitar that leans toward the darker, more complex end of the tonal spectrum.
